Pietro Zuccarello è Ricercatore RTT di MEDS-25/A presso l'Università Telematica Pegaso di Napoli. Inoltre, svolge la professione di Tossicologo Forense ed è Socio Ordinario dell'Associazione Scientifica “Gruppo Tossicologi Forensi Italiani”.
E' laureato in Chimica e Tecnologia Farmaceutiche, Dottore di Ricerca in Scienza Geologiche, Biologiche e Ambientali, e Specialista in Farmacologia e Tossicologia clinica.
Precedentemente ha lavorato presso il Laboratorio di Tossicologia Forense e il Laboratorio di Igiene Ambientale e degli Alimenti dell'Università degli Studi di Catania, entrambi accreditati con ACCREDIA secondo la norma UNI EN/ISO IEC 17025, nei quali è stato Responsabile della validazione e accreditamento dei metodi analitici.
E' inventore di un metodo brevettato dal titolo "Metodo per l’estrazione e la determinazione di microplastiche in campioni a matrice organica e inorganica".
Nel 2019, è stato vincitore di un premio per la migliore comunicazione conferito dalla Società Italiana d'Igiene. Nel 2024, è stato vincitore di un premio per la migliore comunicazione conferito dal Gruppo Tossicologi Forensi Italiani.
Attualmente è autore/co-autore di oltre 50 pubblicazioni in riviste scientifiche internazionali indicizzate Scopus.
